Still the one that adds value
Solid hardwood is the floor that shows up on an appraisal and the one buyers notice. It also takes real work to install properly, which is why the price gap between wood and a wood look product is as wide as it is. If you want the real thing, we install it, and we will be straight with you about what your subfloor and your slab situation allow.
Nail down or glue down
Over a wood subfloor we nail. Over concrete we glue, and we test the slab for moisture before we do, because wood glued to a damp slab will cup and there is no fixing it afterward. Which one your house needs is not a preference, it is determined by what is under the floor, and we check before we quote.
Acclimation is not optional
Wood moves with humidity, and the Treasure Valley is dry. Material that goes down straight off the truck will shrink and leave gaps through the first winter. We let the wood sit in your house until it matches the conditions it will live in. It adds a few days to the schedule and it is the difference between a floor that looks right in year three and one that does not.
Stairs and transitions
Wood stairs are their own skill and they are where a rushed job shows. Treads, risers, nosing and the transition into the floor all have to line up. We do this work rather than subbing it out to whoever is available.
